Forum Discussion Etiquette
Be Respectful
As Kikundi is a platform intended to foster collaboration, it is the responsibility of members to keep the space welcoming and inviting for all. One of the most important ways of ensuring this is to keep discussions on the forum courteous and respectful. Comments such as insults, personal attacks, offensive comments, making fun of colleagues, and threatening others weakens the community and makes collaboration difficult. Even in the face of disagreements, it is the responsibility of members to treat each other with respect and keep discussions civil and productive. In the event of intractable disagreements, you should turn to the community or facilitators for assistance in solving the impasse.
Be Collaborative
Kikundi is built upon the concepts of communication, collaboration, and community. As such, all members should approach the platform with those tenants in mind. Members should strive to share their work with others and regularly contribute to ongoing discussion topics.
Be Inclusive
Kikundi is a platform intended for all Program Managers across the African continent working on Preventive Chemotherapy Neglected Tropical Diseases. This covers many countries from all corners of the continent with different cultural and professional backgrounds. In order to accommodate this level of diversity, members are expected to be inclusive in how they use the platform, conduct shared projects, communicate information, and disseminate opportunities. Further, members are also expected to be inclusive in the use of language. Members should strive to use clear and simple language when contributing to the platform. It is recommended to avoid ambiguous language, acronyms, and complex jargon to prevent fellow members from feeling alienated and excluded.
Be Encouraging
Kikundi members are expected to encourage fellow Program Managers to participate in the forums. It is the responsibility of each member to encourage others and engage a wide variety of collaborators.
Give Credit
Kikundi is a community made up of Program Managers sharing ideas. Whenever members share content of others, they should give due credit and highlight the achievements and contributions of fellow Program Managers.
