Annual NTD Program Managers Meeting

Kikundi represented at the 2026 Annual NTD Program Managers Meeting in Malawi

From 13–16 April 2026, Kikundi was represented at the Annual NTD Programme Managers Meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi. The meeting was officially opened by Hon. Madalitso Baloyi, Minister of Health and Sanitation of Malawi, and brought together countries and partners at an important moment for Neglected Tropical Disease(NTD) elimination efforts across the continent.

The meeting focused on turning commitment into action through innovation, stronger integration into primary health care, sustainable domestic financing, and deeper cross-border collaboration. These priorities reflect the urgency and opportunity of the current moment, as countries continue to work towards Africa’s NTD elimination targets.

Kikundi members contributed to key moments throughout the meeting. Dr. Kaura Meeja, Chair of Kikundi, delivered remarks during the opening session. Later in the programme, Dr. Ndéye Mbacké Kane, alongside fellow Program Managers including Dr. Piham Gnossike, Co-Chair of Kikundi, led a plenary session highlighting the community and its work. Their contributions helped bring country perspectives, shared experience, and practical reflection into the broader discussions.

Kikundi’s participation in the meeting reflected its continued role as a space where Program Managers connect, learn from one another, and contribute meaningfully to regional dialogue on issues that matter for NTD programs. It also demonstrated the value of peer leadership and of creating opportunities for members to bring their experience into wider conversations across countries.

Overall, Kikundi’s presence at the meeting reflected the strength of the community and the important role its members continue to play in shaping dialogue, sharing learning, and supporting progress towards NTD elimination in Africa.
