Kikundi Webinars for World NTD Day 2025
In celebration of World NTD Day 2025, Kikundi hosted a series of two informative webinars, bringing together a wide range of experts, stakeholders, and Kikundi members to discuss crucial topics in the effort to eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
The first webinar, held on February 3rd, 2025, focused on the significance of sustainable investments, political commitment, and a multi-sectoral approach to NTD elimination. This session featured presentations from key organizations such as the African Union, African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA), The END Fund, Speak Up Africa, and Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases.
The second webinar, hosted on February 4th, 2025, addressed topics related to enhancing data systems, accelerating research and development, and ensuring community involvement in NTD efforts. Presentations were delivered by experts from Africa CDC, World Health Organization, Gates Foundation, Global Health Innovative Technology (GHIT) Fund, and Jeunesse Secours.
Both webinars included presentations from Kikundi Program Managers, including Dr. Dogo Yabana, NTD Program Manager in Chad. His presentation highlighted the voice of NTD Program Managers, where he shared his experience in driving NTD initiatives at the country level – particularly relevant as Chad recently eliminated Human African Trypanosomiasis.
Additionally, Dr. Nicholas Olobio, Director and Program Manager of the National Trachoma Elimination Programme in Nigeria, shared his extensive experience of over 18 years in public health. He discussed the importance of community-centered approaches in NTD programs, especially in conflict settings.
We are grateful to all participants for their valuable contributions and engagement, which are crucial in advancing global efforts to eliminate NTDs.
